Chapter Ten

Kingdom of Heaven Comes In Glory
At End of the Age with Jesus On the Clouds of Heaven"

The King of Israel Comes in All His Glory

The Woman and Her Two Mites.

Now Jesus had sat down across from the place where the money had been given for Yhvh's House and its services1 and watched to see how people were putting their money into the treasury. He watched as the rich put their gifts in, many of them throwing in a lot (K 12:41, 9:27L 21:1).

2 He also saw a poor widow who came and threw in two copper coins, or what is equal to one fourth of the smallest Roman coin.2 So He called His disciples to Himself and said, "I tell you, this poor widow, in reality, has put in more than everyone else who has given to the treasury. All of them gave their donations out of what they had in excess, but she has, out of her poverty, had given everything she had to live on" (K 12:42-44, L 21:2-4).

"Not One Stone Shall Be Left Upon Another"

3 Then Jesus left the sacred building; and as He went, some of them were talking about God's house and how it was adorned with beautiful stones, and that the donations had paid for all those things. Then His disciples came up to Him to show Him the buildings of the temple, and one of His disciples said, "Teacher, see what kind of stones and magnificent buildings it is that are here!" ( 7:113M 24:1, K 13:1-2a, L 21:5a).

4 Jesus answered, "Do you see all these great buildings? Well, I assure you, the day will come when there will not be one stone here left on top of another that will not be thrown down"3 (M 24:2, K 13:2b, L 21:5b-6).

The End of the Age

5 Then He and His disciples walked out to the Mt. of Olives; and as He sat on the Mount of Olives, across the valley from God's House, the disciples Peter, Jacob, John, and Andrew came to Him, privately, and asked, "Teacher, tell us when all these things will be? What will be the sign of Your physical return4 and the end of the age?"5 (M 24:3, K 13:3-4, L 21:7).

6 Jesus replied:

"Be careful not to let anyone mislead you.6 For many will come in my name, saying, 'The time is near!' as well as, 'I am the Messiah,' misleading many. But do not follow them!" (See Revelation 6:2) (M 24:4-5, K 13:5-6, L 21:8).

7 "You will hear of wars and instabilities or rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not frightened or disturbed by this. For it is necessary for this to happen first, but it is not yet immediately the end" (M 24:6, K 13:7, L 21:9).

8 "Nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom (See Revelation 6:3-6). There will be famines, and plagues,7 and great earthquakes in various places. But all these things are only the beginning of birth pains.8 "For when the end of the age comes, it will be obvious. There will be terrifying things seen with great signs from heaven" (See Revelation 6:12-17)9 (M 24:7-8, K 13:8, L 21:10-11).

9 "But before all these frightening things and great upheavals in heaven are seen,10 they will lay their hands on you and put you to flight. They will hand you over into tribulation and kill you. You will be hated by all nations because you bear My name" (See Revelation 6:7-8) (M 24:9, L 21:12).

10 "So watch out for yourselves. For they are going to deliver you up into prisons and before councils. And you will be beaten in the congregations. You will be brought before rulers and kings because you bear My name" (K 13:9).

11 "However, it will turn out to be an opportunity for you to be a testimony to them. For the good news must be proclaimed to all the nations first – before the end of the age" (K 13:10, L 21:13).

12 "But keep this in mind, when they arrest you and hand you over to appear before the governmental authorities, do not worry before hand about what you will say. Settle it in your hearts not to meditate on what you will say in defense. Say whatever it is given to you at that time. For it is not you but the Holy Spirit who is speaking. I will give you a mouth and wisdom that all those who stand against you will not be able to contradict or resist" (K 13:11, L 21:14-15).

13 "At that time, many will stumble and hate one another, handing each other over to the authorities. You will be betrayed by parents, brothers, relatives, and friends – even having some of you put to death. Brother will hand over brother to death, and a father his child. Children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put to death." (M 24:10, K 13:12, L 21:16).

14 "Everyone will hate you because you bear My name. But not a single hair of your head will be lost. For by your remaining behind in patient endurance you will gain your souls. For whoever endures until the goal is reached, they are the ones who will be completely delivered from their persecutor's hands and from this body of death" (See Romans 7:24) (K 13:13, L 21:17-19).

15 "At that time, however, many false prophets will rise up and cause a lot of people to wander from the faith (See Revelation 2:9-10). And since lawlessness will be increased, a lot of people's unconditional love will grow cold (See Revelation 2:2-4). However, whoever remains behind in patient endurance until the goal of God's kingdom of righteousness is established here on earth, he is the one who will be finally and completely delivered" (See Romans 7:2-4) (M 24:11-13).

16 "But first, this good news of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all the nations. Then the goal will have been reached" (M 24:14).

17 "And so it will be, when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, know, then, that its desolation11 is near" (See Daniel 12:11) (L 21:20).

The Great Tribulation

18 "Therefore, at that time, when you see the 'abomination of desolation' spoken of by Daniel the prophet standing where it shouldn't – in the holy place of the House of God – let those who recognize it understand.12 Let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, and let those who are in the city, itself, leave. Let those who are in the country not go back into the city, and let him who is on the patio that's on top of his house not go back down into it13 to get anything out. Let those who are out in the field not go back – even to get his coat" (M 24:15-18, K 13:14-16, L 21:21).

19 "As well, pray that your escape may not be in the winter or on a Sabbath. For these are the days of vengeance so that everything written will be fulfilled" (See Daniel 11:36 and 37-12:1) (M 24:20, K 13:18, L 21:22).

20 "For then, in those days, once the abomination of desolation has been set up,14 there will be Great Tribulation, a kind that has not happened since the beginning when God created the world until this time. No, nor will there ever be such a great tribulation ever again" (See Daniel 12:1) (M 24:21, K 13:19).

21 "And unless the Lord had cut the duration of those days short, no flesh would have survived. But for the sake of the elect – those whom He has chosen – the duration of those days will be cut short. They will be cut short by the onset of God's wrath"15 (M 24:22, K 13:20).

22 "But woe to those who are pregnant or nursing babies in those days. For before God's wrath on the ungodly begins, there will be great distress in the land and a fierce anger16 upon this people, Israel (See Revelation 12:12, 17). They will fall by the edge of the sword and be led away captive into all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled"17 (See Genesis 15:16 and Romans 11:25) (M 24:19, K 13:17, L 21:23-2418).

23 "At that time, if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is the Messiah!' or 'Look, there He is over there!' do not believe it. For false Messiahs and false prophets will arise and show great signs and wonders to lead even the elect astray; if that were even possible. But you, watch! For behold, I have told you everything ahead of time" (M 24:23-25, K 13:21-23).

24 "Therefore, if they tell you, 'Look, He is out in the desert!' do not go. Or if they say, 'Look, He is in the inner rooms!' do not believe it. For just like the lightning, when it comes from the east and is seen flashing even in the west, that is how it will also be with the physical return19 of the Son of Man will be" (M 24:26-27).

25 "For wherever the dead body is, that is where you will see the scavenger birds gathering"20 (M 24:28).

The Day of The Lord

26 "Immediately, however, after the tribulation of those days,21 there will be sings in the sun, moon, and the stars. For the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light. The stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens (the planets and stars) will be shaken. (These are those frightening signs He had just told us about)" (see verse 7) (M 24:29, K 13:24-25, L 21:25a).

27 "And because of these things, there will be alarm among the people in all the nations of the earth. They will be in perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. Men fainting in fear and expectation of the things that are about to happen to the inhabitants of the earth" (See Revelation 6:12-16) (L 21:25b-26).

28 "Just after the sun is darkened, the moon turns to blood, and the stars have fallen, then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and every tribe on the earth will mourn. For they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory. And this is what will be seen by everyone, just like lightening is seen from one end of the sky to the other (See Matthew 24:26-28)" (M 24:30, K 13:26, L 21:27).

29 "However, when these things do begin to happen (with the changes in the sun, moon, and stars), lift yourself up, and raise your heads, because your redemption from this body of death into being changed in the twinkling of an eye22 is right around the corner. For when He comes on the clouds, He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet,23 and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other, and from the lowest part of the earth to the highest part of the sky, calling them from every corner of the earth" (See 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17) (M 24:31, K 13:27, L 21:28).

Parable of the Fig Tree

30 Then He told them a parable:

"Now look and learn this parable from the fig tree – as well as the rest of the trees:24 Once you see that the branches have already become tender and are bringing forth leaves, you can see for yourselves and know that summer is near" (M 24:32, K 13:28, L 21:29-30).

31 "So, also, when you see all these things happen, know that the kingdom of God is near – that it is right at the door. For the kingdom of God will come shortly after you see the sign in the sun, moon and the stars, which is otherwise known as the Day of the Lord"25 (M 24:33, K 13:29, L 21:31).

32 "And now, I assure you, this generation (the generation that sees all these things He had just described) will not in any way pass away until all these things have taken place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will never pass away (See Isaiah 54:10)" (M 24:34-35, K 13:30-31, L 21:32-33).

No One Knows the Day or the Hour

33 "Now even though you will know when it is near, even at the door, once these things in the sky begin to happen, no one will be able to say ahead of time when that day will be.26 For no one knows the day or the hour – not the angels of heaven, or even the Son. Only My Father knows" (M 24:36, K 13:32).

34 "Therefore, watch out for yourselves so that your hearts do not become weighed down with harmful recreation, drunkenness, and the worries of life, and so that this Day will come upon you unexpectedly like a trap. For it will come upon every single person who dwells on the face of the earth" (L 21:34).

35 "Therefore, be alert and watch, for you do not know when that time is. Watch and pray all the time so that you will have the strength to escape all these things that will come about, and so that you will be able to stand in the presence of the Son of Man" (K 13:33, L 21:35-3610:69).

"Who is the Faithful and Wise Servant?"

36 "For it is like a man who, going over seas, left his house and gave responsibilities to his servants – leaving each one of them with his own task, and then commanded the doorkeeper to stay alert. Like this, you also, watch, for you do not know when the master of the house is going to come home, whether he will come in the evening or at midnight, when the rooster crows, or even later on in the morning. Therefore, watch so that he does not come home suddenly and find you sleeping" (K 13:34-36).

37 "And what I tell you, I say to all of you. Watch! For just like it was in the days of Noah, that is how it will also be with the physical return of the Son of Man.27 Just like it was in the days before the flood. They were eating and drinking, they were marrying and giving in marriage – even up until the day Noah went into the ark – and they did not realize it until the flood came and took them all away" (M 24:37-39, K 13:3711:2).

38 "Well, that also is how it will be with the coming of the Son of Man. At that time, two men will be in the field. One will be taken (like Noah) to be with28 the Son of Man and the other one left to go through His wrath.29 Two women will be grinding at the mill. One will be taken to be with the Son of Man and the other one left to go through His wrath"30 (M 24:40-41).

39 "Therefore, watch! For you do not know the hour your Lord is going to come. Roll up your sleeves31 and have your lamps burning. Be like men waiting for their master to return from the wedding so that they can immediately open the door for him when he comes and knocks. For the servants the master finds ready and waiting when he comes are blessed. For I assure you, he will roll up his sleeves and have them recline at the table to eat, while he himself comes and serves them. And even if He comes in the second or third watch of the night32 and finds them ready, they are blessed" ( 7:88L 12:35-38).

40 "But know this, if the master of the house had known the hour the thief was going to come, he would have been ready and waiting to keep his house from being broken into. And you also, like this, be ready. For the Son of Man is not going to come when you think He is"33 (M 24:42-44, L 12:39-40).

41 Then Peter said to Him, "Lord, are you telling this parable for us, only, or for everyone else as well?"34 (L 12:41).

42 The Lord answered,

"Who then is a faithful and sensible servant whom the master will put in charge of his household, to give them food or other attention at the proper time? The servant whom his master finds doing so when he comes is blessed. For I guarantee you, the master will make him ruler over everything he has" (M 24:45-47, L 12:42-44).

43 "But if that evil servant says in his heart, 'My master is taking his time in coming back,' and He then begins to beat his fellow servants and to eat and drink and be drunk, getting drunk with friends. That servant's master will come on a day when he is not expecting him and at an hour when he does not realize it. The master will cut him into two pieces and appoint him to a place with the hypocrites and unbelievers, a place where there will be weeping and people clenching their teeth in pain" (M 24:48-5110:44, L 12:45-46).

44 "Now as for that servant who knew his master's will and did not get ready, or did not do as the master had wanted him to do, he will receive a severe beating. But to the one who did not know, and still did those thing that deserve punishment, he will not be beaten as severe. And like this, also, everyone who has been given much, much will be required of him. And to the one who has had much set before him, much will be asked of him" (L 12:47-487:89).

Parable of the Ten Virgins

45 "Also, at that time, the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were wise and five foolish" (10:42M 25:1-2).

46 "The foolish ones took their lamps and did not bring any extra oil. The wise, on the other hand, took an extra container of oil along with their lamps. And while the bridegroom was delayed, they all became tired and went to sleep" (M 25:3-5).

47 "Then, at midnight, the call was heard: 'Behold, the bridegroom is coming. Go out and meet him!' To which all the virgins got up and trimmed their lamps" (M 25:6-7).

48 "However, after awhile, the foolish ones said to the wise: 'Give us some of your oil, our lamps are starting to go out'" (M 25:8).

49 "While the wise answered, 'No, or there may not be enough for the both of us. Go to the store and by some for yourselves'" (M 25:9).

50 "And so they did. But as they were out buying their oil, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went into the wedding with him, and the door was shut. Later on, the other virgins came back and said, 'Lord, Lord, open the door for us'" (M 25:10-11).

51 "He replied, 'Truthfully, I do not know you'" (M 25:12).

52 "Therefore, watch! For you do not know either the day or the hour on which the Son of Man is going to return" (M 25:13).

Parable of the Talents

53 "It is also just like a man who went overseas but, before he left, called each one of his servants and put them in charge of his property. He gave five talents to one of them,35 two to the other, and to another, one talent. He gave the amount of talents to each one of them according to their abilities. And as soon as he had done that, he then went out overseas" (M 25:14-15).

54 "Once he left, the one who had received the five talents went to invest them and made five more. In the same way, the one who had received two, gained two more as well. The one who had only received the one talent, though, went and dug a whole in the ground and hid the masters money" (M 25:16-18).

55 "After quite some time, then, the master of those servants returned and closed the accounts he had left with them. The servant who had received the five talents came, brought the five other talents he had gained, and said, 'Master, you handed me five talents. And now, look, I have made five more talents'" (M 25:19-20).

56 "His lord said to him, 'Well done! You are a good and faithful servant. And since you were faithful over a small amount, I will have you be in charge over much. Come into the delight of your lord'" (M 25:21).

57 "As well, the one who had received the two talents came and said, 'Lord, you have handed me two talents. And now, look, I have made two more'" (M 25:22).

58 "His master told him, 'Well done! You are a good and faithful servant. Now since you have been faithful over a small amount, I will put you in charge over much. Come into the delight of your lord'" (M 25:23).

59 "Then the one who had received the one talent came and said, 'Lord, I knew you were a hard man, receiving what you have not worked for and collecting what you have not planted. Therefore, I was afraid and went and hid your talent in the ground. But now, look, you have what is yours'" (M 25:24-25).

60 "His master told him, 'You wicked and lazy servant! You knew I receive what I have not worked for and collect from what I have not planted. In that case, you should have deposited my money in the bank, so that when I came back, I would have received my money with interest. And so it is, take the talent from him and give it to the one who has the ten talents. For everyone who has, more will be given to him – and in abundance. But to the one who does not have, even what he does have will be taken away from him" (M 25:26-29).

61 "Now then, throw that useless servant into the outer darkness, a place where there will be weeping, and men grinding their teeth in pain" (M 25:30).

The Division of the Sheep from the Goats

62 "And so it is, when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him,36 He will sit on the throne of His glory and all the nations will be gathered into His presence. He will separate them into two groups, just like a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. He will set the sheep on His right and the goats on the left" (M 25:31-33).

63 "Then the King will say to those at His right, 'You, who My father speaks well of, come and inherit the kingdom prepared for you from when the foundations of the world were laid down. For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat. I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink. I was a stranger, and you welcomed Me into your homes. I was without clothes, and you gave Me something to wear. I was sick, and you came to see Me. I was in prison, and you came to visit Me'" (M 25:34-36).

"If You Have Done It to the Least of These, You Have Done it to Me"

64 "At which time, the righteous will ask Him, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You a drink? When did we see You a stranger and welcomed You in, or without clothes and give You some? When did we see You sick or in prison and come to visit You?'" (M 25:37-39).

65 "And the King will say, 'I assure you, just as much as you did it to the least of one of these, My brothers, you did it to Me'" (M 25:40).

66 "Then He will also say to those who are on the left, 'Go away from Me, you who are accursed, into the everlasting fire (a fire that was prepared for the Accuser37 and his messengers).38 For I was hungry, and you did not give Me anything to eat. I was thirsty, and you never gave Me anything to drink. I was a stranger, and you did not welcome Me into your home. I was without clothing, and you did not give Me anything to wear. And I was sick and in prison, and you did not come to visit Me'" (M 25:41-43).

67 "Then they, as well, will say, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry, thirsty, a stranger, naked, sick, or in prison and did not minister to You?'" (M 25:44).

68 "And he will answer, 'I guarantee you, just as much as you did not do it to the least one of these, you did not do it to Me.'" (M 25:45).

69 "And so it is, these will go away into everlasting punishment. But the righteous will go into everlasting life" (M 25:46).

70 And that is how it was. During the day, Jesus would teach in the House of God. But at night, He would go out and spend it on the mountain, called Olivet. And early in the morning, everyone would get up and go into Yhvh's House to hear Him (L 21:37-38).
