The Gospel of Jesus According to
Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John Chronologically Interwoven —
A Harmony of All Four Gospels Integrated Into One
byMichael G. Murphy
All Four Gospels in One
When you read one of the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John, do you think you get a good understanding of how it all fits together? Or, when you read them, do you find yourself wishing you could figure out how it fits into the "big" picture?
Context is extremely important, and if you want to feel as if you were walking within the context of Jesus' life and ministry yourself, this is the best way available to experience it while staying within the confines of the text given in the eyewitness' accounts.
Just as experience is the best teacher, there are some aspects that you will not understand fully about the value of a resource like this until you go through it for yourself. Nevertheless, the following examples should give you a good idea of what it is like before you start.
A Harmony of the Gospels
Early in a lot of people's Christian walk, there is at least this one event that really seems to stand out in the Gospels, and it is where Jesus steps into a boat with His disciples and falls asleep and remains asleep as a wild storm tosses the sea of Galilee and terrifies seasoned seafaring fishermen. But there is one detail that seems to go unnoticed. The text reads that the disciples took Jesus into the boat "as He was (Mark 4:36)." But what does that mean?
Well, a very intriguing scenario unfolds before your eyes as you are able to comfortably read the accounts of all four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John in chronological order, where the four gospels are harmoniously laid out. They are the events that lead up to Jesus falling asleep in the boat, and they go as follows:
Not long after Jesus begins His ministry, mainly because of the benefit He was providing to people in caring for their physical needs of healing, large crowds of people started to gather around Him. At one point we are even told that the crowds had gotten so big that He and His disciples were not even able to eat (Mark 6:31).
Related to this that is why Jesus also begins to tell those He was healing not to tell anyone. It is also why the four friends had to lower the paralytic through the roof to get close to Jesus. And it was at this same point in His ministry that His mother and brother came to "take charge of Him" and could not get close to Him because of the large crowds surrounding Him. (And believe it or not, this also leads into a very interesting picture that unfolds adjacent to this. But we can't deal with that here.)
But then we find a very interesting change in Jesus' method of travel. He begins to get into a boat to go across the lake from the people to get rest from the crowds.
And if we put these two facts together, that He was surrounded by so many people that He and His disciples couldn't even eat, and most likely couldn't get sufficient rest either, His disciples bring Him into the boat tired "as He was" and He falls asleep. This would also seem to explain why He was sleeping so heavy and didn't wake up from the storm (aside from the fact that He trusted His Father completely), and that He was not faking to sleep to test His disciples in their faith.
These series of events can been seen only in the book of Mark, but think about what you could learn from having all four Gospels in chronological context.
Jesus lived and walked in a real world and real circumstances, and these things are seem clearer when you can read the Gospels chronologically interwoven in Harmony with each other. Having all four Gospel in one is a great resource that can greatly enhance your studies in each individual gospel.

And c) There are links to the endnotes describing certain important things to know and understand.
Contradiction in the New Testament - There Are None
Though the premise was taken in piecing the gospels together that there could be contradictions (this was necessary in order to find genuine resolutions), we now have an even stronger conviction that the gospels are indeed a true and completely accurate eyewitness account of the life and ministry of Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God, from His birth on. There are no contradictions in accounts of the four Gospels, not to speak of the entire Word of God.
It is also our conviction that Jesus pre-existed His birth, was born and lived a Jew, that He is one hundred percent God and was in the form and likeness of man (Romans 8:3) - though without sin (Hebrews 4:15). He was the culmination of the High Priest, King of Israel, and sacrificial Lamb of God to take away sin from the hearts of individuals and the world at large. And one day, He will rule the world from the New Jerusalem.
But all this will not be completely fulfilled until He returns on the clouds of heaven to deliver His saints and rids the earth of all unrighteousness and wickedness. He is the Good News for the world, to the Jew first and then also for the Gentile.
Our hope is that through the reading and studying of Jesus' life and ministry, you will be confirmed in these facts or see for the first time that they are indeed so.
